Few of my hubby's friends came along yesterday and one of them brought a 'CONGRATULATIONS' flower stand (don't know what it's called, but you know what I mean lar). Thanks a lot guys!
Guess my blog will be on hold for a while. Will try to update soon.

Baking

Only started baking in the afternoon. In the morning, kids had Sunday School. After that we went to Carrefour to pick up some groceries. Went home, hubby cooked lunch. I finally managed to start baking at about 2pm. Wanted to bake a durian sponge cake. (something like bon bon…….. very ambitious yah.) Got the recipe from Happy Home Baking. Very easy, very fast. Made the sponge cake first. Durian filling later. Everything done, I put the cake in the over to bake about 30 – 35 mins. Tringggg, alarm went off, my cake was ready, looked through the over door, my heart sank, the cake didn’t rise. My cake was a failure. What am I going to do. No cake for hubby, boohoohoo.

Was trying to think of where to get a cake for hubby, finally thought of a cake which is easy and fast, one which I had made before. Durian cake. Quickly measured the ingredients, put in the mixer and then put in the oven. Cake came out beautifully. Mmmmmm yummy.

Restoran Loong Foong

This afternoon was a very tiring day. Washed the bathroom ad toilet, mopped the floor, iron all the clothes, washed clothes, phewwww. Was poofed when I finished, and all because I wanted to keep Sunday free. Wanted to bake cakes. Yippeeeeeee.
In the evening had dinner at Restaurant Loong Foong at Paramount Garden. They are famous for their roast duck. Usually hubby does not like to go there as it is always very crowded, but a friend sms him earlier and wanted to buy him dinner as it was hubby’s birthday the next day. Ohhhhhhhhhhh now you know why I wanted to bake a cake right, hehehe.
Dinner was at 7:30pm. We reached there about 7:00. As hubby was already hungry he wanted to eat noodles first, but when we reached we saw that his friends had already arrived. They ordered Stewed tau foo, steam fish, Yam basket, Butter prawns in claypot, leng ngau and of course not forgetting the duck. Hubby’s friends does not take duck and they said they order it for me, so I practically had to eat everything, luckily hubby helped and a friend took some. Half a duck only lah.

Did not take pictures of all the food as, …….shy lar. If I were out with family I will be snapping away at all the food. Anyway, when the food arrived, everyone was already digging in, including my kids. This is what I managed to take. The fish and Yam basket.

As we were eating, there was a guy who came round singing and playing the guitar. Hubby’s friend then asked him to sing a few songs including ‘Happy Birthday’.

The crowd there was incredible. You can see people practically standing around waiting for place to sit. Anyway after we finished our food, we sat around and chit chat and then someone suggested we order beer. Friend’s wife said beer no good, errrrr too much wind, I think she said, all getting old. (By the way, I’m only in my 30s). Guinness Stout better. My first time drinking Guiness Stout. Was OK. Glurp glurp

SS2, 'Wai Sik Kai'

Was at SS2, 'Wai Sik Kai' for dinner yesterday. Hubby wanted to meet up some of his old friends and also to let them know he will be opening his durian stall soon.....at SS2.

Haven't been there for so long as I find the food there taste 'so so' only. Ordered lamb chops for my kids and seafood rice for me. My kids found the lamb chops too tough so they did not finish it. They loved lamb chops and a fact they did not finish it proves..... As for me, my seafood rice was OK. it came with 3 pieces of stingray, some squids, some lala (shellfish) and a prawn. Also ordered a deep fried garlic sotong. The garlic sotong was RM10 a plate and my seafood rice cost RM7.

Other than seafood rice they have lots of other dishes too. Fried lala, prawns, baked fish and they even have crabs. I was so tempted to order the crabs as I saw a few tables ordering them and it looked yummy. CRABS! MY FAVOURITE! Oh well, maybe I will try them next time.

Politics

Everyday, everywhere you see ‘politics’. Everyday, when you open the newspapers you read about bickering among politicians. When will it end! There are so many other more important issues to worry about, fuel prices, food prices, etc..... everything going up but salary not going up. Sighhhhhhhhhhhh.

Oh well! In my place of work, it’s not any different. I see politics everywhere and it’s from the top. Sighhhhhhhhhhh

Really, really miss all my ex-colleagues. Guess they made the right move. Miss you all!

Durians

Went to a durian orchard today. One of our friends called in the morning and asked us to go for a visit to the durian orchard. Since it was Sunday, my kids missed Sunday School. Bad mummy. The durian orchard is located in Sg. Klau, Pahang. We left KL about 11.00am. Had lunch at Bentong town in one of the so called food court - there were not many stalls around and we opt for nasi campur. Nasi campur for 3 adults and 2 kids (they had a chicken each only without rice) cost us almost RM40. What a rip off. Friend commented we should have gone for KFC instead, yum yum. After lunch off we went on our durian outing.

Before leaving for Sg.Klau, hubby called his friend there to keep some durians for us. When we reached there, he told us the basket of durians he kept for us was accidentally loaded onto the lorry by the lorryman who were taking durians off to the buyers. Sighhhhhhhhh. No durians. So dissapointed. All the way and no durians.

His friend then asked us to go the orchard to pick durians there. Yippeeeeee. Off we went to the orchard to look for durians. Can you see the amount of durians hanging from the tree. Those are not ripe yet

My kids and I were really enjoying ourselves looking for durians on the ground. I was also busy taking pictures. We walked around the orchard but there were not much durians on the ground. (durians will fall by its own once it is ripe. You never pluck a durian). The ripe ones were already picked up in the morning. Anyway, we didn’t go back empty handed, hubby’s friend managed to get us some durians to take back.

These are the flowers of the durian tree (pic on the right).
In the orchard I even managed to see a ‘pulasan’ tree. The fruit looks something like a rambutan. See the tree. Too bad the fruits were not ripe yet or else I will be plucking and eating them non stop. Hehehehe. They even have a few cocoa plants here and there.
'Pulasan Tree' See the fruits hanging!
Cocoa

On the way back we bought some ‘buah salak’ ……delicious. Here are some pics.
Really really enjoyed my outing today. Too bad I came back too late for my project. Durian cake and fruit cake. (wink, wink). Oh well, there’s always next week.

Just made some honey cornflakes for my kids. It’s a favorite of theirs and they have been bugging me to make it for some time. Here they are.
Am planning to make durian mousse cake tomorrow and fruit mousse cake. A friend of mine doesn’t like durian’s so am making the fruits one for her. Woohoo big plans right. Hope I have the time to do. Was looking at the recipe and it looks easy enough. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

Chocolate Cake

Today my friend who got me the chocolate's to try yesterday got me a durian chocolate cake. It was delicious. The chocolate was creamy and the durian filling inside was ohhh so yummy. I think they used the bitter kind of durian flesh (just the way I like it). The cake was really really rich. Brought it home and shared the cake with my daughter, my son didn’t want to try.

The first picture showed the whole cake, (you can see the back part of the cake is gone.) As usual I forgot to take a picture of the cake even though I was reminding myself to do so.... as usual. The temptation was just too great. hehe. Remembered just in time to take pictures of it after I had my first bite. The second picture (sorry it’s a bit blur) is a half eaten cake, where you can see the durian flesh inside. Mmmmm.

Went for dinner at Restaurant Kam Heong in State today. It is located next to UOB Bank. It is one of the famous place for ‘Stewed Duck’ in PJ. During weekends it tends to get crowded until you hardly get a place to sit. Once I went there on a Saturday at about 8+pm and all the ducks were sold out. Phewww. The duck rice is sold only in the night.

Other than duck, they also have mushrooms, pork leg, 'harm choy'(pickled vege), pig's intestine...yummy. They also have a stall selling satay there.

This is what we ordered. Also ordered eggs and pork leg.

In the mornings the restaurant is famous for their porridge and prawn mee and also wan tan mee. They do have other varieties as well. It also tends to get crowded in the mornings and you won’t be able to get a place to sit unless you go there early @ 8am.

Chocolates

Love chocolates. A friend of mine gave me some chocolates to try today. It was heavenly.mmmmmmm. Outside is a thin layer of chocolate and inside is ice cream.
When my friend passed it to me the chocolate was soft, so when I tried to use
the stick (it came with a little plastic stick) to poke it, the chocolate broke and ice cream melted out, so I had to eat the chocolate and practically suck the ice cream from its case. Heheheh. Don't waste mah. Delicious till the last drop.

Lunch

Had a satisfying lunch yesterday. Was thinking of what to eat when I saw some people having Yong Tau Foo. It looked good. My colleague and I decided to try it as it was the Special of the Day. This is how it looks

There were 5 pieces of Yong Tau Foo – brinjal, bitter gourd, ladies finger, chilly and white tau foo together with a plate of rice and a big bowl of soup with vege and 3 fish balls, yummy! Of course this can't compare with Ampang Yong Tau Foo lah.

Sunway Pyramid

Was in Sunway Pyramid over the weekend. I know I know I went there last week. You all must be wondering what’s so nice about that place. Well, the main thing is that is near to my place, so I can walk there. Told you that hubby dislikes going to places where it is always jammed up, did I also mention that he does not like shopping. Sighhhhhhhh. So the nearest for me is Pyramid. I must admit that Pyramid has changed since they added in the new wing. They have Jusco, Popular, and the list goes on. I haven’t really scouted the whole complex yet. Still can’t find my bearings especially in the new wing.

Actually went there as I wanted to have my printer fixed. Carried it all the way there, but almost all the shops there don’t fix printers. Most of them suggested me to get a new one. Printers are so cheap now, it is better to get a new one than fixing the old ones. Since none of the shops can fix the printer I have to carry it all the way back home, and mind you I was with my kids and we walked all the way home from Sunway Pyramid (@&#&@#@ printer)
