Curry Laksa

Hubby sent a friend to Pudu Raya, to take a bus back to Ipoh. After that, hubby brought me to Petaling Street for lunch. That was a treat as hubby never goes to KL, unless he really has to. He dislike the jam so much that he will keep on grumbling if he is caught in one. The place he brought me to was errrrr near the market, that’s what he told me. I am very bad at KL roads as I seldom go there. We had curry laksa as he says they are quite famous there. They had two stalls there. We sat nearer to the first stall and thus had to order from them. The noodles came with ‘tau foo pok’, long beans, cockles and ‘chee pei’. This is how it looks.

Halfway through my noodles, hubby asked me to try the curry noodles from the next stall. I told him its OK, my noodles are quite all right. But he kept on insisting and says that he will finish up my bowl and ask me to go to the next table to order from the other stall. (To order from the other stall one must sit nearer there.) (I think he wanted to finish my bowl of noodles also that’s why he was so insistent) heheheheh. So off I went to the other stall and ordered myself a curry laksa. It was basically the same, except they added brinjals in.
Hubby came to join me when he finished his noodles, he asked me how it was. Well, the fist stall’s curry was milder than the second one. The second one had more ‘santan’ (coconut milk). Both stall are quiet OK, but if you like brinjals in your curry laksa, do opt for the second one.

After our lunch we went back to our car. I went to pay the parking ticket. I gave the man the ticket and he put the ticket into the machine and I saw the price was RM4.00. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We were there for less than an hour. I told hubby the price and his answer was ‘KL mah’. Wow! That’s the price of parking in KL and its not even covered. Phewww.

Costume jewellery

When I had a maid and had more time I used to make costume jewellery. It was sort of like a hobby for me. (photos). I stopped doing it and kept all the stuffs away due to time constraints. Recently one of my friends to whom I gave a necklace asked me to change the hook on the necklace for her. I dug out my old stuffs and went through all the stuffs I have. My hands can’t wait to get back to work again.. Hehehe. Only if time permits sighhhhhhhhh.

Today my lunch was ‘Maggi Mee’ Actually it was ‘Rusky’ Tom Yam Noodle. Didn’t know what to eat for lunch, and so happened my friend gave me the “Rusky Tom Yam noodle this morning. So, had that for lunch. It wasn’t a satisfying lunch so I called one of my colleague who was in Mid Valley for an interview to get me some buns. When she came back from her appointment, I quickly gobbled up the buns. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that was gooood.

A ex-colleague MSN me just now. She told me that she baked some cookies and would bring them over to me tomorrow. Mmmmmmm can’t wait. Will update you on her cookies tomorrow. According to her she haven’t baked since secondary school :-O. Dare I try. Hmmmmmm, OF COURSE, baked by my friend you know. There are so many things I feel like baking, sighhhhhh, when oh when will I have the time. I have some durians in the fridge and also some bananas. WIll try to bake them this weekend. Miss baking

Weekend

The weekend is nearly gone. How time flies. Morning, sent the kids to Sunday School, after Sunday School, we went for lunch. On the way home, hubby dropped the kids and me at Sunway Pyramid. Wanted to go to Popular to pick up some books for the kids. After picking the books my kids wanted, I went off to the counter to pay. At the counter I noticed that the zip on my bag was unzipped, but thought nothing of it (I always forget to zip it). Looked for my purse. OMG! Purse was not there. Searched again, panic stared to build up, ‘I lost my purse’ Oh no, someone picked my bag. Thoughts of my friend having been pickpocket twice - once she lost her h/p, the other time she lost her purse, went through my mind. Oh no, it’s happening to me. Search and search again. I was beginning to want to shout I lost my PURSEEE! When I finally realized my bag was on top of my purse which was on the counter. Phewwwww. Taught me a lesson. Always zip up your bag.
At home, I helped my daughter with her art project – a ‘wau’. She coloured the 'wau herself and I helped her with the dangling streamers (don't know what its called, hehe) After that, kids went for their afternoon nap. Thought I would have time to relax after that, but nope. After they woke up it was time to finish completing her ‘wau’. This is how the completed ‘wau’ looked like. Weekend over. sighhhhhhhhhhh

T.G.I.F

Finally. Finally today has come. Friday is finally here. Have been waiting and waiting for this day ever since Monday morning. Sighhhhhhhhhhh.

Had Pizza Hut for lunch today. Few of my colleagues and I ordered Pizza Hut delivery. Just as we were finishing the pizza – two slices left, I told my colleague that I forgot to take some photo's of it. Told her I reminded myself before lunch to do so. She said that I was always like that, in my earlier blog I also mentioned that after almost finishing the food I forgot to take pictures of it too, for eg. the half empty plate of satay. hehehe. Well that goes to show when food is in front of me my mind goes foooooooood and nothing else. hehehe

Today was a colleague's last day. 'sob sob' My friends are all leaving one by one. Anyway, here's wishing her the best of luck in her new job. Go for it 520!

Kanna Curry House

Lunch today was at Kanna Curry House in Sec 19. My colleague and I like the place as we loveeee their fried squid and fried chicken. Service was very fast. As we sat down, immediately the waiters came with banana leaves for us. They then put the usual vegetables on the banana leaves and before we know it they even put the fish cutlet on my banana leaf and I didn’t even ask for it. They wanted to give it to my other friends but they didn’t want it. One of my friends thought the fish cutlet was free (she thought it was together with the vege). Even though the service was fast, the waiters tend to be very persistant. They keep coming to our table with dishes and dishes and when you say no, they will still stand next to you and you will have to repeat yourself. As they came over quite often it got quite annoying. Anyway, overall we enjoyed ourselves with the food. It was quite pricey though. There were three of us, me included and we ordered 3 fried chicken, a plate of fried squid, a ‘tenggiri’ slice and a fish cutlet and 3 drinks, the bill came to a total of RM51.00. Hubby always refers to the place as ‘slaughter house’ hehehehe.

Early Night

Had an early night yesterday. Mentioned in my earlier blog that ever since I subscribed to streamyx and also since I started my blog, I haven’t gone to bed as early as I would have liked. Wellll, since my kids finished their homework early and went off to bed, hubby also had an early night, I decided to switch off my PC and went to bed also. The time was around 9:30pm. I finally managed to catch up on my beauty sleep.

Today was a very long day for me. Slow, long and boriiiiiiiing. The only highlight of the day was lunch and also later in the day, a friend came over to pass me some things. Hmmmmm, wonder if working too long in a company demoralizes you and also you see your colleagues leaving one by one, that is worst. Your motivation level drops to nothing. I don’t think I’m the only one that feels this way but…… . This is life! I have another colleague who is going to say ‘sayonara’ in a few days time. Last day is on Friday. Took her to a Japanese Restaurant for farewell last week.

Read this on Star online ‘High food, fuel prices may spur crime’. Now they only think of this. What is this!!! Even before the increase in everything, and I mean everything, crime was already rampant. So what is new. Duhhhh!

Baking

Gosh! I miss baking. Few months ago, I was baking practically every weekend. But now….. time just does not permit. Every weekend is fully packed, what with the kids having abacus, swimming, church, Sunday school, phewwwww the list just goes on and on. Told one of my colleague’s or should I say ex-colleague (her last day was last Friday), that I will make her durian cupcakes. She enjoyed it the last time I made it. Will try to make some soooon.

Farewell

Last week we had a farewell for two of my colleagues. One was going to follow her husband to Cambodia as he was going to be based there for 2 years. So she’s going to be a ‘siu lai lai’ there. Heheheeh (hope she won’t kill me when she reads this). The other was going to join a new company. We went to New Paris in SS2 for lunch. I feel the quality of food there has dropped quite a bit. We ordered deep fried sotong, their speciality tofu, stir fried kalian, steam chicken, guiness spare ribs and a “cheong ching” fish. The deep fried sotong was hard. Tasted like they refried it. The others was so so only.

Seremban

Today was a hectic day. Hubby wanted to open his durian stall today. His worker came down from Seremban yesterday to get ready. Since my daughter had abacus today and swimming after that, I had to ask my parents to pick them up and help send them to school. As for hubby, the worker and I, we were rushing out to get the generator serviced, get the umbrella stand and also to make the platform to put the durians. As we were on our way, hubby received a call from the supplier, he said that the durian were not good and there were not much fruits so there was no point in sending it over. Phewwwww, there goes my supposedly hectic day.
Since we were not going to start operating today we took our time. Went to have breakfast nearby MOX, at Jalan 222. There is a very good fish head curry there (behind the mosque). Shop’s name is Baiduri. Of course we did not have fish head curry for breakfast, hehehe, we had roti canai. From there we went to Old Town to check out canopy’s and also to check on our weighing machine which hubby sent for service a few days’ ago. After that we went to 3K to meet my kids (they have their swimming lessons there).
Since the durians were not coming and we were not going to operate so soon, hubby’s worker decided to go back to Seremban. Hence, our trip to Seremban. After dropping him off, I suggested to hubby to have satay in Kajang. (kids love satay). Since hubby was not to familiar with Kajang and neither was I, at a traffic light we asked a motorcyclist where to get the best satay. He told us to park at the parking spot after the traffic lights and walk opposite. But since it was a bit late and I was too lazy to walk far I told hubby why don’t we just have it at Hj Samuri ( it was located just next to the parking lot). Ended up eating there. Nothing great, beef was tough, but must say the pieces was big. Bigger that what you get in PJ. The price, well we had 25 sticks of chicken, 15 sticks of beef, 10 perut (beef tripe) and 2 cups of water, the damage – RM35.20. When I remembered to take photos of the satay, these were only left. hehe

cont’ of trip to Tasik Kenyir

When I came back to work after my trip , some of my colleagues asked what I did there (since I was there for so long). Told them I fished and fished and fished. Every morning after breakfast we would start fishing and then we would have lunch and after that continue to fish then it would be time for dinner and after that continue fishing. Hehehehe. They looked at me with disbelief. Told them for someone who enjoys fishing you will never get enough of it.

While waiting for the fishes to bite, everyone will be just sitting around, chatting. One ear will be on the conversation and one ear will belistening for the ‘crack’ sound (that is made when someone uses a multiplier). When the fish takes the bait and pulls on the line, the reel will make a crack crack sound and everyone rushes to see which rod is bending and of course take it and try to hook the fish. Everyone will be very excited when someone lands a fish. But of course it’s not only fishing lah. In the evenings we do take the speedboat out to go sightseeing or to one of the many rivers there and ‘bathe’. It was a really relaxing and eventful trip. In fact, before the trip I didn’t even fell like going as I was thinking to myself what I was going to do there. I had packed my gameboy and 3 novels in case I got bored. Once there I never even took my gameboy out. One of the novels which I was reading halfway never even reached the end, I was to engrossed in trying to catch a fish or should I say fishes. The feeling you get when you hook and reel in a fish is exhilarating. It is something that is hard to describe. I already miss it and am waiting for our next trip there. My friends are already planning to go in August. Asking us whether we have crossed our calendar.

Tasik Kenyir

Went to Tasik Kenyir during the Wesak Hols. Was there for 5D/4N. Left for Kenyir on a Friday night. As hubby and I were going up with some friends, we met them at their place in Bangsar. Proceeded to a mamak in Bangsar before we left for our journey. About 3am, we left for Tasik Kenyir. yahoooooooooo. KENYIR HERE WE COME!

Finally reached Kenyir at @ 8:00am. Stopped at Kuala Berang town for a quick trip to the morning market to get some last minute stuffs and off we went again. On the way Hubby said that he would bring us to eat some delicious breakfast. There were 7 hungry people all waiting to try the delicious food. When we reached, all of us hurried down the car only to be turned away dissapointed. The food was all sold out. sob sob. Hubby said along the way should have more food. All the way to the dam, there was no food. Since it was a long weekend there were many people there (all going to kenyir) that's why the food was all gone.

Finally we reached the Dam after about 1/2 hours journey. Our Crew was waiting there for us and helped us load our stuffs on board. After loading everything, hubby and friend (we drove two cars) drove the cars to the parking lot while the rest of us waited on the boat. Finally they came back and we were on our way to a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

The whole time we were there, hubby did all the cooking. One night we even had ginger wine chicken. Yup, hubby brought his homemade rice wine and even claypot there.

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

I was making some changes to my blog layout and hubby asked what I was doing. I said I was creating my blog. He commented 'so now, you're a blogger'.hmmmmmmmm

Dinner was at home today. Hubby cooked pork, stir fried potato, cold tofu and drumstick curry. That dish is my favourite. It is not chicken drumstick, it is a kind of long beans (which the indians usually grow in front or behind their house). You usually just chew and eat the insides of this bean. Should have taken a photo to show you guys but ooooppppss its all gone. Will take a picture of it some other time.

I'm now looking at my kids while they are supposedly doing their homework. My son, as usual, is walking up and down instead of writing. Getting him to do his homework is always a battle. He will start whining and complaining. My daughter on the other hand, doesn't give much problems. She will finish her homework by herself.
Before I started with this blog I asked some of my friends what they thought about it. Will it be a good idea? I wanted to try it out as I wanted to share with you people out there about the boat my hubby has in Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu (which is for rent), about the durian stall which my hubby is opening soon in Subang Jaya and also to talk about food which is my passion. I feel very good when I am talking about food and also tend to get very excited about it. yum yum.

Another reason is I finally subscribed to streamyx broadband. Before this I had a dial-up, and whenever I have to log in to retrieve mails or even to surf websites it will take ages and ages to load. But now, its a wayyyyyy different story, I tend to surf the net more often, eg, facebook, blogs and even go to bed later (there goes my early nights). Before this I used to be in bed by about 9.30pm, 'cause that's when my kids have to be in bed and in order for them to stay in bed I have to be in bed too. . It's now 10:15 pm and I'm still thinking of what to write in my blog.

My daughter is still doing her homework (poor thing). My son, well, he went to bed about 15 mins ago after finishing his homework. I feel that nowadays kids don't have much time to relax and play around. By the time they get back from school, rest and play for about for about 10 mins, then they have to bathe, eat and do their homework before it gets too late.

Welcome to my Blog

A year ago I did not even know what a 'blog' was. All the while I have been hearing my friends, colleagues and even read in the newspapers about ‘blogs’, but know nuts about them. Finally, I asked one of my friends what a ‘blog’ was. (of course was trying not too sound too ignorant when I asked her). She kindly told me and even gave me a few blog sites to go to eg: kenny sia, a whiff of lemon grass, etc. I went in to those sites and I read and read, and I got hooked. So, here I am, with my own blog.
