Christmas Eve

Yea, today is Christmas Eve. I'm still thinking if I should go for Midnight Mass tonight or go for the morning mass on Christmas Day. It's been a long time since I went for the Midnight Mass. Reason is because I'm not sure if my kids can keep quiet for so long. hehehehe. Anyway Midnight Mass has always been my favourite, as my church usually has a Cantata before Mass starts, and I would like my kids to experience it. Oh well, I shall wait and see what happens this evening. I can't believe I'm still at work today. phewwww. I usually take the day off to prepare for christmas eve dinner. Will usually roast a turkey, B.B.Q a lamb, etc. Well, this year we are not having any christmas eve party at home, so I'm not stressed out.

Port Village, Klang

Had dinner at Port Village, Klang after one of our trips to Sea Lion Klang. I haven't been to this place for a long time. The place looks the same and the only difference is the crowd. I remembered the place used to be very crowded especially on weekends.I was there on a Sunday evening around 6:00pm and I noticed there was only a couple dining there.

Anyway this is what we ordered Stir Fried vege. A bit salty

This is their speciality - Deep Fried Beancurd

Steam Fish

Kam Heong Crabs - Yummy.

Actually I prefer salted eggs crab, but I thought I wanted to be 'a bit' health conscious andI thought salted egg would be too much, so I took Kam Heong instead. This dish was so so only. Should have stuck to my salted egg crab.

Sea Lion, Klang

Since Thursday was a public holiday, hubby went to Sea Lion in Klang with a friend for fishing on Wednesday. He left the house at 10:30pm and came back at 6:30am. OMG he spent the whole night fishing – 5 hours.

On Thursday, after our breakfast, hubby brought us to Sea Lion. I haven’t been there before, neither had hubby. Last night was the first time.

We went there to look around and to see which pond had the most activities. Sea Lion has 5 ponds altogether errrrr or was it 7. I saw they even have a prawn fishing, hmmm that sounds interesting. Must try it some day. Anyway, we spent quite a while there watching people pull up their fish, and we were ready.

Went home, got the kids to sleep first, hubby also had a nap, me – housework. Sighhhhh. Someone has to do it.

Hubby and the kids work up around 4pm. Hubby started getting his hooks and lines ready. YES, we are going back to Sea Lion, this time for fishing. Went for an early dinner and we were on our way.

Reached there, unpack our things and we were ready. Can’t remember the charges for the place, but will update it later. We payed for 1 person fishing and for 5 hours, about RM60. if you fish less than 5 hours you can get a refund.

Got a nice place to sit. Took my book out to read, together with my kids while hubby sat with the rod. Time really flies. Before we knew it, it was almost 11:00pm. We reached Sea Lion at 7pm. We have 1 more hour to go and we haven’t even caught a fish. I am so so disappointed. I have not got a chance to pull in a fish. Sighhhhh. At about 11.45pm we started packing. Long day, no fish. Well, we are planning on going again. Maybe tonight………

Durian Thief

I can’t believe it. Someone came to hubby’s stall to steal durians at 5:00am. And the person who stole the durian’s was someone who came quite often to eat durians at our stall. The nerve of some people. Some more hubby will give him and his friends good durians.

This is what happened. hubby’s worker who stayed at the stall, woke up and saw someone walking away with a bag of durians. Can you believe he even took a plastic bag from our stall and filled it up with durians. In the bag was at least 5 – 6 durians. Anyway, when hubby’s worker noticed the guy, he took a durian ready to throw it at the guy. The guy turned around and put his hands up. Heheeheh. If not surely, hubby’s worker will throw the durian at him.

Dorae Garden, Korean BBQ

Had lunch at Dorae Garden at Sri Hartamas one day. Reason – you guessed it, A colleague’s farewell. Aihhhhh

Since there were 10 of us, they let use sit in a room. One thing bad about it is, you cannot BBQ the meat yourselves. The BBQ is inside the room but it is at a corner. Someone will BBQ the meats for you. Anyway, since we did not have much time over lunch, we let the guy BBQ the meat for us.

This was at the entrance as we came up the stairs

This dish was spring onion marinated in some kind of sauce, yummy

Sauces that was given to us. It was kind of salty, I did not even bother to dip my meat into it.

First came a bowl of soup for everyone. It had seaweed in it, yummy but a little salty.

Then the side dishes came.

We ordered

Wang Gal-bi (Beef marinated in sweet soy sauce)

Woo-sel-goo-ee (Fresh ox tongue without marinade. Served with seasoned sesame oil sauce.

Sam-kyub-sal (Thin slices of belly pork w/o marinade)

Yang-nyum Dak-gal-bi (lean chicken fillets marinated in special soy sauce)

Yang-nyum Yang-go-gi (choice cuts of lamb specially hand fillet marinated in sweet sauce

Bibim-neng-myun (Cold noodle dish – cold buckwheat noodles with spicy chilly sesame oil sauce) This dish was served with ice cubes in the noodles, a bowl of cold soup and a bottle of apple vinegar

O-jing-er-so-myun (sliced squid with assortment vegetables, stir frid in spicy chilly sauce with noodles)

Dolsot-bibim-bab (Fresh & seasoned vegetables, slices of beef, served in steaming hot stone bowl over a bed of steamed rice with a egg on top.

Pork (I think it was called Je Yook Bok)

We also ordered two bowls of rice which cost RM5 per bowl.

Lastly we had pancakes, which was on the house and watermelons

Overall, our bill came up to RM331.20. A very satisfying lunch.

Singers at Durian Stall

One evening there were two guys walking past our durian stall with guitar's slinging on their back. Hubby invited them in to the stall and gave them some money to entertain our customers.

Cool right.

Restoran Kim Teck

Hubby brought the kids and me for Bah Kut Teh one sunday morning. It was located at Kepong Indah. it seems they used to operate at Sungaik Buloh before moving to this place.

When we arrived about 8am, there were already lots of people there. Opposite the shop they also had tables and chairs under the tree for people to sit. I chose a place under the tree as it was not to hot that day, and I guess it will be stuffy if we were to sit in the shop.

You can see from the pictures what we ordered. I actually forgot what it was called.

Overall the food was delicious. Worth the trip there.

'All You Can Eat'

Remember I said hubby’s durian stall had this concept of “All You Can Eat”. Well, one day, two guys came over and had this promo – “All You Can Eat” RM15 for D24 durians – very good deal, RIGHT.

They were of course enjoying their durians, when I saw one of them struggling with one of his durians. The other guy was still going on OK. I walked over to hubby, wanting to tell him I think they had enough, as I could see them struggling. Before I could even tell hubby, I saw the guy that was going on “OK” – puked . eeeeyyyyeeewwww. Gross. I quickly told hubby about it and he turned around and told me, he was going to chop another durian for them, as one of them requested for one more.

Picture of the guy’s ‘puked’. Heheheheheh

So guys if ever, you go for the ‘All You Can Eat’, please do not overeat. Enjoy your durians. Enough is enough. You can always come back for more.

Sour Sop

A fruit I haven't eaten in a long time. Hubby brought this back from the orchard one day. Since it was a bit big, I brought it to the office to share with my friends. For those who haven't tried this fruit, you should as it is very refreshing. You can even make it into juice. It as a has a sourish taste - delicious

Damansara Palace Restaurant, Kota Damansara

For a colleague's farewell (yup another one is leaving), we had lunch at Damansara Palace Restaurant in Pelangi@Damansara, Kota Damansara. Acutally, I havent' heard about this restaurant before but one of my colleague recommended this place.

This restaurant is located upstairs. The inside of the restaurant is quite spacious
There were 14 pax and we were sitted at a huge round table.

We took two sets. One set was for 4 - 5 pax - RM66.80++, and the other was for 9 - 10pax - RM138.80++. In both the sets we could choose a fish dish and any 3 and 5 dishes respectively.

First came the soup. The soup was very sweet. Not sure what soup it was, but inside were red dates, pork (I love those pork in bak kut teh (chee chang, I think it's called) and some kind of nuts.

We had Roasted Duck in Hong Kong Style. No pictures of the duck as everybody was hungry, everybody started digging in before I could even stop them.

Brinjal and Fish Paste
Special Thousand Island Ribs
Fried Spare Rib in WIne Sauce
Braised Chicken with Shao Xing Wine. This came in a claypot.

Black Pepper Ostrich
Steamed Grass Carp in Taiwan Style
Fish Fillet with Ginger & Spring Onion
Fried Seasonal Vege with Garlic (Kai Lan)
Claypot Tofu
Prawns (this was not in the set, we ordered aditional)

For desserts we had a plate of fruits and water chestnut with egg (this was an additional dish too)

A satisfying lunch for all on a Friday afternoon.

Wan Tan Mee, SS2

Went to SS2 for a very late lunch of ‘Wan Tan Mee’ with my hubby on Saturday. The shop is located near ‘Cheow Yang Restaurant’ side of SS2.

The 'wan tan mee' used to be very very crunchy and delicious, however it’s not so anymore. There used to be an elderly man making the ‘Wan Tan Mee’ but I guess he must be retired, as there was another person taking over his place. But at 3.30pm where else can you get ‘Wan Tan Mee’. Cannot complain lor.

Here is my Chicken Feet Wan Tan Mee, yum yum.

The Ship, Damansara Utama

Went to 'The Ship' Damansara Utama for lunch on Sunday with my parents, kids and of course hubby. I must say the food there was nothing to shout about and the price also …….

My son had Chicken Chop

My daughter, fish and chips

Hubby had Steak. it came drizzled with a sauce over it, but I can’t remember what was the sauce but it was mixed with red wine. According to hubby, nothing great. This dish came as a set and it came with carrot soup, dessert and a drink.

I ordered the Seafood Platter. Fish, prawns, scallops(yummy), crab claw & Squid

My parents had lamp chops. By the time I came back from from the ladies, they were halfway through the lamb chops, hence no photos.

Kids had apple juice, orange juice, 3 ice water and 1 warm water. Oh Ya, I also ordered garlic bread for all of us......delicious. No pics of the garlic bread, as usual, I forgot. Hubby was the one who reminded me about taking pics when the food came.

Sg Klau, Pahang

Went to the orchard at Sg Klau, Pahang with hubby over the weekend, to get durians. We stopped at Bentong to have breakfast first. They have a stall selling ‘chee chap chok’ (pig intestines porridge) which was quite good. I was so looking forward to it. Too bad the shop didn’t open that day, so we opt for the next coffee shop which had a variety of things.

I ordered the pork noodles and hubby ordered the ‘wan tan mee’. Food was very disappointing. I didn’t even finish my noodles, the first bite I had of the pork was ‘smelly’, not fresh. According to hubby his ‘wan tan mee’ was ‘OUT’ also.

After breakfast we left for Sg, Klau. After checking on the durians there, hubby brought me to one of the coffeeshops nearby to eat again. Hehehe. I had curry laksa, which was not too bad – had it the last time I was there also. It came with ‘tow foo pok’ & ‘char siew’. No chicken, like what they usually put in curry laksa.

This is the coffee shop I went to.

After breakfast again, we went to the orchard to get our durians. While I was waiting for hubby to finish checking on the durians, I smelt something funny, it was a kind of sourish smell, doesn’t really smell bad. I was looking around to see where the smell came from, was it ‘cowdung’ or hmmmmmmmmm. Anyway after that hubby told me that there were drying cocoa and the smell was of cocoa. Ohhhhhhhh.

The man drying his cocoa

Oriental Pavilion Restaurant

Was at Oriental Pavilion Restaurant for lunch with my colleagues. It was a farewell lunch for one of my colleague. We took the 'Autumn Promotion' which was priced at RM598 ++ for a table of 10 pax.

Lunch was at 12.30pm. Some of us reached there early including me, so as to avoid sitting with the boss. shhhhhhhhh. We had 2 tables and were seated in a room.

These were the two appetizers that were on the table when we arrived.

The set consisted of Peking Duck - yummmyyyy
They sliced the skin off the duck before serving us. This is how it looked when it was served to us.

Braised Shark's Fin Soup in Claypot Thai Style. It looked more like a mini 'Buddha Jump over the wall'. delicious.

Pan-Fried Garoupa Fish with Pomelo Sauce. The sauce for this was sourish and delicious.

Scrambled Egg with Milk & Lobster Meat served in Lettuce. This dish came with a raw egg on top. You have to mix the dish with the egg before eating.
After that you wrap it up with lettuce and eat. I find this dish a bit too 'chai'- 'jelak' - 'bloated' (can't figure out how to say in english). Had to eat it with green chilly and it will taste better.
Braised Ling Zhi Mushroom with Dried Oyster & Dried Seafood in Winter Melon.

Braised Egg Noodles with Duck Meat.Sorry, photo a bit blur.

Double-Boiled Snow Pear with Sea Coconut. This was good as it was not too sweet like what they served in other restaurants.

Thousand layered Sponge Custard. (ma lai koh)

Overall the food was OK. Next time I will try their 'dim sum'.
